Before the weekend I’m always checking the BBC’s weather service and invariably it’s wrong! Yesterday (Sunday) should have been heavy showers and it was an amazing day. Once again I got out in the afternoon at about 3pm, just as the Formula one finished.
On a side note what a great race it was, usually when watching it I am only half paying attention but this was a excellent race all the way through.
Anyway, planned my route a bit more closely, on mapmyride. Choose to go in the opposite direction to the previous day, and on a country route, From Matfield down to Brenchley, Yalding, Marden, Curtisden Green, Horsemonden and back home, was just under 25 miles in all. Was a good ride, as I said amazing weather, could feel the heat of the sun as I was cycling. Saw quite a few other cyclists and horse riders out too.
I’ve learnt over the past few months, Cats, foxes, squirrels, birds – No problem, BUT always slow down for dogs! Why unlike every other animal when the see a bike do they run right for you!!

Really impressed with this. I was really pushing myself, but pleased and suprised to keep up a realtively high average speed over 24 miles distance. A little way to go though when I compare it to an average speed of 26 mph that Tour De France cyclists did on their first stage from London to Canterbury last year. I’m sure its just the bike!
