What a great day! After an overcast week today the weather was great! I went out with four other riders. It was a great and really helpful experience. We started out in Southbourgh, and went out to Hever, Bough Beech Reservoir and Penshurst place. I am not sure of the exact route as I was just following!
Distance 26.76 miles
Max Speed 36 mph
Time 1 hr 54 mins 2 secs.
Avg speed 14 mph
A key thing I discovered by cycling in a group is that when I am by myself I push too hard on the flats and descents. Which wore me out on the hill climbs. However today it felt more relaxed but still ended up with a 14mph average speed. I say more relaxed but I was thoroughly worn out by the end!
I have now bought a Garmin GPS Navigator. After changing my mind every 5 minutes I finally went for the entry level Edge 205. This was much more affordable than the latest models and although it doesn’t have the complete functionality it still does an awful lot, this will also help me understand if I would use it all should I want to upgrade in the future. Looking forward to trying it out tomorrow.
I have my fingers and toes crossed for good weather as I hope to get out on the bike every day this 3 day weekend, will keep you up to date!
