Yesterday was a horribly gloomy overcast day. I wasn’t too hopeful for today either. But it has turned out to be a beautiful day. So got straight out on the bike just (just in case the weather turned). Thousgh it is a Sunday so it was about 9am! (a lay in!).

Today was the first time in a while I have been out for a cycle for longer than 10 miles. I am really pleased the the ride as I managed to maintain a good average speed across the whole ride. It was a good route, not much traffic on a Sunday morning, except one grey van who came past as if it was trying to take off! I tried to push myself to pedal hard up the hills, which wore me out a bit but was good training. I think I still need to perfect my hill climbing technique. I think I am pedalling to hard down hill or on the flat before the hill so I don’t have the energy once I am on the hill.
I took a camera out, its lovely countryside through Kent though I forgot to look for key landmarks to take photos of so here is me by Lordship wood, Horsemonden.
As promised in my last post here is a map of my route. (If you click on it or the above photo, it will appear full size). I should point out that any maps I post from Matfield will start at the Village Green. I am not sure about Memory Map (the software I used to make this map). When drawing the route I was only able to use straight lines. So it was very fiddly, I had imagined you would be able to mark waypoints and it would fill in the gaps. Also it was a pain to export the map as a Jpg. But I do like the fact that it uses a “real” OS map with all the landmarks and contour lines.
Thank you to those people who have already sponsored me. You can do so here https://www.bmycharity.com/V2/Barsley Please remember to tick the gift aid box.
Hop everyone has a good week! Looking forwards to some midweek cycling if all goes well.
