
This morning in Beijing Nicole Cooke claimed Britain’s first Gold Medal in the Olympics for women’s road cycling.
The Beijing road cycling course starts at the North Square of YONGDINGMEN in Beijing’s Chongwen District and finishes at Juyong Pass in Changping District. The route passes through Chongwen, Xuanwu, Dongcheng, Xicheng, Chaoyang, Haidian, Changping and Yanqing Districts. It is a total distance of 102.6 km.
Nicole Cook was in a group of 5 which pulled away from the main peloton in the closing stages of the race. She then timed her sprint perfectly to pull ahead and win with a time of 3 hours, 32 mins and 24 seconds. Congratulations to her!
